Some people have asked me what happened to my Whims and Wonders blog. Well, it’s still there, and going strong. It can be a little less formal than this blog, so be prepared. Consider it the teenage brother of this one. Look for whims about the fun side of technology, as well as some cool toys and even some more personal info about my hobbies. Hell, you might even get a Paris and Nicole update, hence whims and wonders. I hope you enjoy both blogs and look forward to your continuing comments, suggestions, and snide remarks.

Now this is a must-have tool, maybe a toy, no, a tool. It is called the iCache. It combines all of your credit cards into one safe and secure device. It handles credit cards, debit bank cards, loyalty cards. It looks like it will work with anything that has a magnetic strip on it. You go to the iCache website and upload the information on all your cards. When you’re out and about, you can just pull out the iCache and scan your fingerprint on the device to activate it, from the built-in screen, choose from your list of cards. iCache then will spit out a single-use card with that card’s information on it for you to swipe at the checkout. When you are done, slide the card back into the iCache. The card is erased completely and made available for it’s next use. At only $99 it is worth waiting for it to come out next year.

I found a site that has a new and unique concept: www.LocalDemand.com
People put up their project up and estimate your budget for completion. Then, local workers can respond by placing a bid. They offer all types of jobs to be offered for bid, including babysitting, cleaning, construction, basic handyman jobs, home improvement projects, and many more. People looking for work can be notified automatically by email when a job fitting their keyword selection is posted.

Although this has alot to do with more primitive ideals, I think it is important to see how the ideas of advancement in products through the use of technology can be used to better the environment and our impact on the land. It is amazing the impact that the progression of our development can change long-used products for the good.
I have really fallen in love with bird hunting. I hope to do a lot more this year. The season already started here in Oregon on August 1st.
I particularly like pheasant hunting. My first hunt I was able to bring quite a few birds home, some mine, some my guides, thanks for asking… One thing I noticed right away was the shot that was left in the bird. It took forever to go through the meat and pick out the shot, and even though I had best intentions, I didn’t get it all.
There is a new product that is about to hit the market in limited production this year. It is called Season Shot and it is exactly what you might think. It is bird shot made from seasonings.
With Season Shot, all you have to do is load the special shells, shoot the bird, then cook the bird. No excessive shot hunting because the shot breaks down during cooking and seasons the bird from the inside!
Now the first thing I wondered was how it compared to regular steel shot, and the company has stated that it is comparable. The effective distance of 45 yards isn’t too shabby either. The seasoning is suspended in a food-grade biodegradable pellet so it is durable until presented to heat, thus seasoning the birds.
Secondly, I wondered if you would be able to smell the seasonings when you fired the shot, but it is fully encapsulated, so that’s not an issue.
Next, price, price, price. At this time, the product has not hit the market, so we will have to see. Hopefully the will make it as competitive as possible to encourage shooters and hunters to use this product.
Lastly, how does it taste? Well, I will surely have to give you an update when I get a chance. They are developing 4 flavors: Cajun, Lemon Pepper, Garlic, and Honey Mustard so most people will find an appealing flavor for their pallets.
Now, one of the other positive affects of this product is the Nature Friendly design. Although steel shot is a lot less hazardous than lead shot, it still leaves its mark on the terrain. The completely biodegradable pellets of the Season Shots are truly environmentally-friendly, and will help us protect our lands and the right to hunt them as time goes on. I know that Don and Alice at my favorite bird hunting location, Olex Preserve, will surely embrace any product that will help in this cause.
Dentists everywhere beware and save up. You will see a lot less of us hunters coming in with chipped teeth! Don’t worry too much, you won’t go hungry; you can come to my house for Lemon Pepper Pheasant dinner…
