You know those tickers at the bottom of all our favorite T.V. channels these days? Well, I love to hate them. I cannot give either the show or the tickers my full attention. Just when I see something interesting in the ticker, I have already missed something on the show.
Even worse than missing the content, I have usually missed the first part of the ticker, so all I know for sure is what happened, not usually who it happened to. Therefore I am forced to re-watch the entire ticker again to figure out who the info is about, inevitably separated by at least one commercial break. And what happens then? First, I don’t care, and second, I have missed more content on the show. Anyone else feel my pain?

We have just had a green car dealership open up here in town. They carry electric, hybrid and solar-powered cars in their inventory and sell both new and used cars and trucks. We spend a lot of time on this blog talking about advancements in technology, because that is what it is for, but I think it is important to stress that we have the ability to use our advanced understanding of the world to make it a better place, and this is one way to do it.
Here is a tidbit from their website:
“Ecomotion: Earth Friendly New and Pre-Owned Vehicles is a fresh and enterprising new green car emporium offering automotive buyers a fantastic opportunity to take greener steps toward a more sustainable future. An innovative contributor to the field of smart energy transportation, Ecomotion demonstrates that business can act as a catalyst for inspiration.”

Beyond being a total computer geek, I am also a former band geek as well. I was the Drum Major for both my High School and a local Drum Corps called the Spartans.
I have always been a huge fan of Drum Corps International, the governing body of the Drum Corps activity, but I have a little complaint about technology. Several years ago, DCI decided to allow some types of electronica into an activity that was, until then, exclusively horns, drums, and the occasional ensemble vocal sound. I thought nothing of it, and was only concerned that there would be the potential of using a keyboard or synthesizer to mimic things that should be done on the field.
Two weekends ago I took a trip down to Pasadena, Ca and more specifically, the Rose Bowl to see the DCI World Championships. Several of the groups used a microphone to describe things happening in their show, I hated it, but I understood the artistic license.
Now, there is one Corps, called the Cadets that have always been progressive in my opinion, but i think they have gone too far. During the entire show, they had corps members whine about not fitting in, or talk about there favorite parts of practice, or discuss what they could do better. I could NOT even hear the music or pay attention to the marching or colorguard at all while this talking was going on, full blast through a microphone. It was like watching a movie in front of someone who was using their cell phone to discuss the reasons their latest relationship just didn’t work out.
I call for a removal of all all technology-based electronica from a sport that was originally played on a stretched skin and an animal horn. NO MORE MICROPHONES DCI!

Having a reliable printer really helps in my business, so I decided to check out the Canon PIXMA iP4300. One of the things I like about this printer is that it would let me print high-end photos fast. It is actually the print head and the 5-color ink system that is exclusive to Canon printer technology that enables this speedy printing process.
The printer also comes with two paper trays, to hold regular and photo paper easily. What’s more, I can print on both sides of the paper without having to flip the page over! Now this is indeed a very attractive feature! Learning about these features has certainly persuaded me to get this model printer from Canon.
